China-Nepal Friendship Dragon Boat Race Festival, the first-ever event of its kind, is being held in Pokhara from June 23 to 24.
Posting a Twitter message Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said, "Eight teams from China, Nepal, and Singapore will compete for the 200 meters and 500 meters championship. Let's row at the Phewa Lake!"
China-Nepal Friendship Dragon Boat Race Festival, which aims to attract Chinese tourists, is being organized in collaboration with the Nepal Tourism Board, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Pokhara Metropolitan City.
The two-day event will include cultural performances and food exhibitions from both countries.
In March, Beijing had allowed its citizens to travel to Nepal as tourists after more than three years.
The Dragon Boat Race has been held in more than 50 countries and has entered the Asian Games and Olympics as well. The event is the first of its kind in Nepal.
