CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he regretted after uniting with CPN (UML) in haste.

He said so while addressing the newly-formed Socialist Front Nepal at a program held at the City Hall in Kathmandu on Monday.

Dahal, who is also the Prime Minister, has said that even though the unity was forged at his own initiative, he regretted it later as it could not sustain it for a long time.

“It was a mistake to hastily unite with the UML. We should have formed a socialist front during that time as well", he added.

With a goal to establish socialism in the country as stated in the constitution, four left aligned political parties today announced the formation of the Socialist Front Nepal.

Organizing a formal event in the Capital City, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and Nepal Communist Party's top leaders announced the formation of such Front.

However, the CPN (UML) and Nepal Samajbadi Party led by Dr Baburam Bhattarai are not included in the Front.

Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', CPN (US) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janta Samajbadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and CPN general secretary Netra Bikram Chand 'Biplav' have signed the concept paper of the Front.

Leader of Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal Rajendra Shrestha said that the Front was formed to establish a society that is free from discrimination and to safeguard, implement and develop the constitution of Nepal along with establishing socialism with Nepali characteristics.

The Front has opted for preparing a base for socialist economy as an alternative to comprador capitalist economy and fiscal monopoly.

The Front has also pledged to prioritize the issues of Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, ending class and regional discrimination and set a path for Nepali socialism by strengthening federal democratic republican system.

Likewise, taking the country towards industrialization, creating employment generating business to the returnee migrant workers, poverty alleviation and promotion of investment through concerted efforts of all three layers of government are the key objectives of the Front.
