Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will embark on an official visit to China in the coming month of September.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Press Union at Dhangadhi in Kailali on Monday, Foreign Minister NP Saud informed about the Prime Minister's visit to China.

“Preparations are underway to arrange Prime Minister's China visit in the coming month of September,” said Minister Saud, “There will some significant achievements during his China visit,” he said.

China has risen economically and politically, of late. Nepal should benefit from the development of China, said Saud.

Saud said that even now Nepal is doing two-thirds of its trade with India. There are also social and cultural ties with India.

“For transportation, trade from China and third countries takes place through the Indian Ocean,” he said, “we can benefit from the emerging economies of China and India.”

There have been some shortcomings in the past. Now we are going to rectify them. We are devising a foreign policy that is acceptable to all parties," he said.

He claimed that there were some great achievements in the Prime Minister's visit to India on May 31 to June 4.

"India has signed a MoU with Nepal in order to buy 10,000 megawatts of electricity in the next 10 years", he said, "The Prime Minister is also visiting China."

On a different note Saud said that he is flying to Azerbaijan on Monday itself.

Nepal has adopted a non-aligned foreign policy. It is neutral in the military alliance, too. “Today, I am leaving for Azerbaijan to attend a Foreign Ministerial level conference to be held in Baku,” he said, “I will raise the issue to introduce the Non-Aligned Movement.”
