Foreign Minister NP Saud has underscored the need to bolster relations with neighboring countries with China and India.
Speaking at a meeting the International Relations Committee of the Parliament held on Monday, Minister Saud said that the relations with both the neighboring countries should be strengthened.
Minister Saud emphasized that the relationship with one should not be compared with the other.
“The influence of the two neighboring countries as emerging economies is increasing. They have an age-old relationship with Nepal," he said, "which should be made further stronger. One relationship should not be compared with another relationship.”
Saud further said that there should be no psychological pressure in relations with neighboring countries.
"You should not feel psychological pressure in the relationship," he said, "You should keep your concerns in a transparent manner."
Saying that the relationship with India is historic and unique, Saud said that it is also important in terms of open borders, two-thirds of trade, and transportation facilities.
He asserted that the government is committed to the one-China policy and insisted on not allowing Nepali land to be used against the allies.
He said that the US and the European Union are important from the point of view of development relations.
