Govt ready to work with private sector for energy dev: Minister Basnet

Minister of Energy Shakti Bahadur Basnet has said that the government was committed to deepen cooperation with the private sector for power sector development.

Around Rs 2000 billion is required to produce 10,000 megawatt of power in the current cost of production and it will have a far-reaching influence on economy, he added.

Minister Basnet stated that the government is preparing to announce 'energy decade' for the overall development of energy sector in the country.

Minister Basnet said so on Friday during a meeting with a delegation of Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).

Likewise, Minister Basnet said that the ministry was ready to forge collaboration with the private sector for energy sector development.

Newly-elected chairman of CNI Rajesh Kumar Agrawal and other office-bearers of the CNI reached the ministry to hold talks on country's economy and energy sector development, among others.
