Former women prisoners in Iran have complained that they were strip-searched in prison.
According to the BBC, female prisoners have complained that they were forced to even remove sanitary pads and even tampons.
"They do this to humiliate us," says Mozhgan Keshavarz, who spent almost three years behind bars, mostly in Evin and Qarchak prison in Tehran.
She said that she was strip-searched three times in front of the CCTV. She was released from prison in 2022.
According to her, for the third time, a female guard took a picture of her naked.
When Keshavarz objected to this, it was answered that this was done so that no one would later accuse her of torture.

Her Instagram account has a series of artistic images of her without a hijab in a variety of public places. She has been accused of conspiring against the country's security, insulting Islam, propaganda against Iran, promoting corruption and sedition.
She was sentenced to 12 years in prison. She has recently been convicted of corruption, a charge that carries the death penalty. She is now in exile, from where she spoke to the BBC.
