Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin paid an unofficial visit to Nepal last week.
According to an official at the Russian Embassy, Pankin came to Nepal on October 31 along with his spouse.
"It was their purely a personal trip. They did not have any official or unofficial engagements here in Kathmandu. Therefore, we kept it confidential," the diplomat told Nepalkhabar.
As part of their trip, the Russian minister and his wife visited Lumbini and Pokhara, two major tourist destinations of Nepal.
Officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said they were not aware of the visit.
Wrapping up a week-long trip, Russian deputy foreign minister left Kathmandu for New Delhi late last week.
Meanwhile, a group of Russian artists have arrived in Nepal to perform a Russian dance ensemble "Obraz" on November 11.
