Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Bajhang Coordinator Nagendra Khadka has been suspended from the party.
General Secretary and Spokesperson Mukul Dhakal informed that Khadka, who was running a hotel business in Bajhang, has been suspended by the party on the charge of abducting and thrashing a journalist.
It is said that the disciplinary committee of the party is conducting further investigation into the matter. Spokesman Dhakal said that necessary action will be taken after the investigation.
"Bajhang party member Khadka has been suspended from the party on the charge of assaulting a journalist," said Dhakal, the spokesperson, adding, "The disciplinary committee is investigating the issue further."
Khadka abducted Sunil Mandel, who works for Khaptad Awaz News and NepalAngle, from his home on Monday.
Khadka is also the owner of Hotel Holiday Inn.
The Bajhang branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists issued a statement demanding action against Mandel at the behest of Khadka.
