Senior Vice Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Rabindra Mishra, has taken strong exception to the Election Commission (EC) for featuring him on the action list even after furnishing the election expenditure details on time.
The Commission on Tuesday issued a notice and informed that 2,435 candidates, including Mishra, have been fined for not publishing the details of the election expenses held on November 20, 2022.
The next day, on Wednesday, one of the candidates for the House of Representatives, Mishra, made public a copy of the election expenditure statement submitted by him to the Election Commission, questioning how such an error has occurred.
"I filled out the 'expenditure statement' form prepared by the Election Commission and submitted that two weeks after the election, on December 6 2022, at the Election Commission office in Kathmandu-1," Mishra said in a statement.
He also mentioned that on the same day, the press release issued by him on the details of his election expenses was published in major media outlets.
In the statement, Mishra has also mentioned that he has deposited a surplus amount of Rs 850,000 in the fund of Kathmandu 1 Constituency.
Mishra wrote, "No matter how corrupt the state is, citizens should not forget their responsibilities, and I am always prepared to hold myself accountable for the public. When a special organization like the Election Commission makes such a mistake, it will have a bad effect on me," Mishra wrote.
