The federal parliament meeting has been postponed for July 31.
The meeting was deferred for five days following the disruption by main opposition CPN (UML) on Wednesday.
“The meeting of the federal parliament has been postponed for five days. The next meeting will take place on July 31 at 1 pm,” said Speaker Devraj Ghimire following the disruption by the UML.
UML lawmakers disrupted the parliament demanding a high-level probe team to look into the 100 kg gold smuggled into the country.
Speaking at the parliament meeting, UML lawmaker Thakur Gaire vehemently stated that his party will not allow the meeting run until the probe team is formed.
Similarly, UML Chief Whip Padam Giri called for the formation of a high-level investigation team saying that such a huge amount of gold could not smuggled only in the setting of the employees, hinting at the involvement of heavyweights.
UML has alleged that the government has been just a mute spectator even during the smuggling of gold for 33 times by the Ready Tread Company registered in the name of 20-year-old youth of Dolakha.
