Dilli Prasad Upreti, a central member of CPN (Unified Socialist), has returned to CPN (UML).
UML Sarlahi leader Chudamani Wagle informed that Upreti returned to his old home after meeting with UML Chairman KP Oli on Monday.
"Dilli dai was preparing to return to UML for a long time", Wagle told Nepalkhabar on Tuesday morning, "After meeting with Chairman Oli yesterday, he decided to rejoin the UML. The official announcement of UML entry will be made after returning to Sarlahi."
Upreti along with UML leaders Hari Upreti, Raj Narayan Sah, Rewati Pant, Ganesh Prasain among others reached Oli residence Balkot on Monday. Wagle informed that Upreti also had a separate conversation with Oli for 10 minutes.
The party's Madhesh Province in-charge Yogesh Bhattarai, UML MP Hari Upreti, Jwala Sah, and among other leaders were working hard in Sarlahi to bring back the leaders including Upreti who had left the UML to join the Unified Socialist.
Upreti, who was also the former chairman of Hariwan Village Development Committee was dissatisfied with Oli after he did not get the ticket for the mayor of Hariwan Municipality in the 2074 local elections. UML made him a candidate in the Province Assembly elections held in the same year.
At that time, he won the provincial assembly election from Sarlahi-3 (A) from the left alliance with the Maoist Center.
On November 20, 2022, Upreti, who got the Province MP ticket again from the Unified Socialist, lost the election.
Upreti, the common candidate of the ruling coalition, was defeated because the Maoist Center did not support him.
After losing to Jawaharlal Kushwaha, who became a rebel candidate from the Maoist Center, he started getting closer to the UML.
