Nepal to procure 1 mln metric tons paddy rice, 100,000 metric tons rice

No sooner India announced to put a ban on the export of rice, than the price of rice has gone up here in Nepal.

The Nepal government has decided to import rice in a bid to control the price increase in the country.

According to the decision, Nepal will purchase 1 million metric tons of paddy rice and 100 thousand metric tons of rice.

The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply will procure the rice through the Food Management and Trading Company Ltd, said the ministry.

The ministry claims that the procurement will control the price hike.
