Ruling Nepali Congress has concluded that another high-level committee is not required to investigate the 100 kilos of gold recovered on July 19.

Making public the decisions of the parliamentary party (PP) meeting of the Congress held for three days, Chief Whip Ramesh Lekhak informed about it.

“The Nepali Congress has taken the gold seized from the TIA seriously. The illegal gold smuggling is worrisome. Such kinds of illegal works should be banned for good,” Lekhak said, “The CIB is looking into this case. NC urges to carry out an in-depth investigation into this case.”

Lekhak further said the Congress is not in favor of the formation of the high-level panel to investigate the gold smuggling case.

“We have called for an in-depth, impartial and independent investigation into the gold case,” said he, “The CIB is looking into this case. It should be made impartial and transparent. The NC is not in favor of the formation of another probe committee.”
