Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala on Friday participated in an election campaign of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) organized at Basantapur in Kathmandu.

Actress Manisha's participation in the election campaign has triggered fresh ripples in the political spectrum of Nepal.

She was spotted in the RPP's election campaign, appealing to the people in general to cast votes for the party.

Speaking during an election ralley, she said,"The RPP has upheld the reconciliation policy of BP Koirala. The monarchy is still relevant in the present political context of Nepal."

She was one of the keynote speakers in the election assembly, alongside Rabindra Mishra, the candidate of the House of Representatives (HoR) from Kathmandu-1 and Rajendra Lingden, the chairman of the RPP.

Reacting to Manisha's participation in the election campaign for RPP, former Prime Minister and chairman of Nepal Samajbadi Party Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that the monarchy is a mere daydream and its reinstatement is next to impossible.

"The reinstatement of monarchy is next to impossible no matter what level of celebrity advocates for its reinstatement. Advocating for the reinstatement of monarchy is nothing more than a waste of time," said Bhattarai.

"The river never follows in the opposite direction. A big landslide may block it for a while creating an artificial lake but it will recede and takes its usual course, eventually. This is the rule of nature and social development," said Bhattarai in a Twitter message posted on Saturday morning.

Ruling out the possibility of reinstatement of monarchy, Bhattarai advised people in general not to run after such an illusion.
