Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha appointed new CJ

Acting Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha has been appointed the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Supreme Court.

President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Shrestha as the CJ on Monday as per Article 129 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal at the recommendation of the Constitutional Council.

Earlier today, the parliamentary hearing committee had approved Shrestha's name as the CJ unopposed. 

Born on October 16, 1959 in Doti district of Sudurpaschim, Shrestha started his career as a Section Officer in 1984.
