The nationally recognized seven parties represented in the federal parliament have reached an agreement to form a high-level probe commission to investigate the gold case.
Dol Prasad Aryal, the vice-president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), informed Nepalkhabar that the all-party meeting held on Wednesday struck a decision to this effect.
According to the agreement, a high-level probe commission will be formed on September 22. The team will start investigating the 61 kilos of gold smuggled into Nepal through Hong Kong and additional nine kilos of gold brought in the form of e-cigarettes.
With the agreement, the parties have also agreed to resume the stalled parliament with the agreement, said RSP Vice President Aryal.
“With the two-point agreement, the stalled parliament is resuming from today itself,” said Aryal.
The UML had been obstructing Parliament demanding the formation of a high-level investigation committee to look into the gold smuggling case.
