The government has transferred Director General (DG) of the Department of Immigration, Jhalak Ram Adhikari, to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Adhikari was pulled over to the Home Ministry amidst information suggesting his consistent communication with Dawa Tsering, a Chinese national who was apprehended in connection with a gold-related case.
The details including messages suggested that he had been in regular contacts with Tsering, of late.
During a House meeting on Wednesday, Rabi Lamichhane, the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, alleged that the incumbent Director General was engaged in regular correspondence with a Chinese national implicated in a gold smuggling case.
On February 28, Adhikari had been appointed as the DG of the Department of Immigration.
Earlier, Adhikari had served as the Director General of the Department of Revenue Investigation.
