The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has got the chairperson of the Local Development and Infrastructure Parliamentary Committee.
A meeting of the ruling alliance comprising chief whips of the parties held this morning decided to give the chairperson of the Local Development and Infrastructure Parliamentary Committee to the RPP, Buddhiman Tamang, a lawmaker from the RPP, told Nepalkhabar.
According to sources RPP MP Deepak Singh is likely to be elected as the chairperson of the parliamentary committee representating the RPP, according to Tamang.
The RPP has 14 MPs in the federal parliament.
An election is being held on August 28 to select chairpersons to the 12 parliamentary committees – 10 from the House of Representatives and two from the National Assembly.
As per the agreement reached among the parties, Nepali Congress will have 4 chairpersons, CPN (Maoist Center) 2, CPN (Unified Socialist) 1, Janata Samajbadi Party 1 and Janamat Party 1. Similarly, UML will have 3 chairpersons.
Out of 9 seats allocated for it, the ruling alliance has decided to provide the chairperson of the infrastructure parliamentary committee to the RPP.
