Kin demonstrate at Dhangadhi’s Swostik Hospital after patient dies

Tension has flared up at Swostik Hospital in Dhangadhi, Kailali on Monday.

The victim's family has protested in front of the hospital saying that the patient died during the stone operation due to the doctor's negligence. According to the District Police Office, Kailali a large number of security personnel were mobilized to preempt untoward incidents.

After the talks between the hospital administration and the kin of the deceased ended without tangible outcome, the victim's family started staging demonstrations.

They demand that the incident should be investigated and that the doctors involved in the treatment be punished and proper compensation provided to the family of the deceased.

Aijan Lal Chaudhary, 55, of Belauri Municipality 10, Kanchanpur, who was admitted to the hospital for treatment, passed away in the course of treatment. According to the hospital, he died of profuse bleeding after the doctor removed his left kidney during the treatment.

According to family sources, the doctor said that the kidney would have to be removed and then the operation was done again. Chaudhary died while removing the kidney.

Chaudhary had stones in both kidneys. The victim’s kin have alleged that the doctor who was involved in Chaudhary’s treatment on Friday was negligent.

The relatives of the deceased have demanded an investigation into the incident and stringent action against the negligent doctor.
