Newly elected parliamentary committee chairs sworn-in

The newly elected chairpersons of 10 thematic committees under the House of Representatives (HoR) have taken the oath of office and secrecy amidst a ceremony on Monday.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire administered the oath to the committee chairs who were elected unopposed today.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at the meeting hall of the Agricultural Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee.

For the leadership of 10 thematic committees under the HoR, on Sunday, there were sole candidacies in nine and two candidacies in one.

After Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Ganesh Parajuli withdrew his candidature on Monday, all chairpersons were elected unopposed.

Santosh Chalise of Nepali Congress has been elected as the chairperson of the Finance Committee, and Raj Kishor Yadav of Janata Samajbadi has been elected as the chairperson of the International Relations and Tourism Committee.

Bimala Subedi of the CPN (Maoist Center) has been elected as the chairperson of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Arju Rana Deuba of Nepali Congress as the chairperson of the Agricultural Cooperative and Natural Resources Committee, Kiran Kumar Sah as the chairperson of the Women and Social Affairs Committee and Ramhari Khatiwada as the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

Similarly, RPP's Deepak Bahadur Singh has been elected as the chairperson of the Infrastructure Development Committee, Bhanu Bhakta Joshi of the CPN (Unified Socialist) has been elected as the chairperson of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee and Hrishikesh Pokharel of the CPN (UML) has been elected as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.

Janamat's Abdul Khan has been elected as the chairperson of Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Interest Committee.
