The government has endorsed the third amendment to regulations governing the correction of age, name and surname.

The third revision to the ' Correction of Age, Name and Surname Rules, 2017 BS (1963) was proposed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The previous stringent provisions entertaining correction of age, name and surname with the limited time of just six months had mainly caused inconvenience to students. In a move to address this issue, the Ministry has extended the correction timeline from six months to five years.

Ministry's under secretary Bednidhi Khanal said in case of the need to correct such details in the academic certificates after acquiring a Nepali citizenship or going through revisions of name or surname or both of own or the names and surnames of parents in the citizenship certificate, it should be proceeded within a year receiving the certificates or making the necessary changes. However, this correction opportunity is a one-time provision.

The Council of Minister has endorsed the revisions proposed by the Ministry.
