Tension ran high after the cadres of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) led by Ravi Lamichhane and the ruling coalition clashed with each other during an election campaign in Chitwan-2 on Sunday afternoon.

According to Bagmati Province Police Chief DIG Kiran Bajracharya, the scuffle took place between the cadres of the two parties while they were heading to Narayangadh from Kurintar.

During the encounter between the two parties, who were campaigning on foot and using vehicles, the cadres of the RSP led by Ravi Lamichhane called the workers of the alliance, ‘losers’.

"The dispute reportedly cropped up when the cadres of RSP called the cadres of the alliance ‘losers’", he said.

Deepak Bohora, one of the leaders of the Ravi-led RSP, has accused the ruling coalition of attacking them without any reasons.

Ravi Lamichhane, the candidate of the RSP from Chitwan 2, who reached the incident site after the car was vandalized, criticized the government for failing to maintain peace and security.

Bohara complained to the police alleging that even during the attack, the police took the side of the alliance. One of the cadres associated with RSP sustained injuries in the attack by the coalition cadres.

A group led by NC Chitwan District Committee member Anamol Adhikari attacked the cadres of the RSP, according to Bohara.
