Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that he will float this proposal during his upcoming visit to the northern neighbor.
Addressing the Message Assembly organized by the Socialist Front Nepal in Pokhara today, Prachanda said an agenda has been prepared to offer direct flights to Chinese cities from both Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports.
“Works rerated to infrastructures will be expedited during my upcoming China visit. Surkhet-Hilsa road and the other road connecting with Korala checkpoint in Mustang will be taken forward. Checkpoint in Gorkha connecting with China will also be opened this time,” said he, “I have also set an agenda to offer direct flights to China from Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports.”
During his visit to China, Prime Minister Prachanda will also reach an agreement with China on cross-border transmission lines.
According to Prachanda, the transmission lines will be constructed stretching between Kerung to Rasuwagadhi and Sankhuwasabha to Kimathanka.
Prime Minister Prachanda will fly to China from America on September 22 and hold high-level meetings on September 23 and 24.
He said he will also meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during his China visit and hold talks on taking the BRI deal forward. The BRI agreement had been reached between Nepal and China in 2017.
Pokhara Airport was constructed with the help of China. Nepal government has investigated billions of rupees at Bhairahawa Airport.
However, the Nepal government has not been able to conduct regular flights from these airports.
Due to lack of national and international flights, the government is finding hard to sustain the airports.
