Chinese professor Hu Shisheng, an expert on Nepal affairs, has said that Nepal and India should resolve the Kalapani dispute together.
Hu, director of the Chinese think-tank China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), said this at the 'Contemporary Nepal-China Relations' program organized by the Nepal-China Study Center in Kathmandu.
He further said that the official map released by China will not be changed. After the pointed map of Nepal was not included in the map released by China this year, the discussion started that China did not recognize the latest political map released by the Nepal government.
"In my personal opinion, the map issued by China will not change now," he said, "Even the map issued by Nepal does not include the territory claimed by China, neither does it include the territory claimed by India. In this sense, the Kalapani region dispute is a bilateral issue between Nepal and India. Therefore, this issue should be resolved by Nepal and India."
He said that the trilateral point between Nepal, China, and India should be identified by the three countries.
"China is always sensitive to the geographical integrity of Nepal. However, bilateral issues between Nepal and India should be resolved by both countries together," he added.
