Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the Ministry of Urban Development will be assigned with the responsibility to manage garbage of the entire country including the Kathmandu Valley.
Prime Minister Dahal said so during an interaction with the stakeholders on the long-term solution to the garbage management and the steps to be taken by the government in Singha Durbar this afternoon.
“The federal government is putting efforts to permanently manage the garbage of the Kathmandu Valley,” said Prachanda, “A Council of Ministers will take a decision on it. We will assign the Ministry of Urban Development to manage the garbage of the entire country including the Kathmandu Valley through the upcoming cabinet meeting.”
Stressing that the garbage management is the common responsibility of the federal, provincial and local governments, he said that a long-term mechanism will be constituted to permanently manage the garbage.
Participating in the interaction included Urban Minister Sita Gurung, Chief Secretary Dr Baikuntha Aryal, secretaries of the Office of the Prime Minister Ek Narayan Aryal, Maniram Gelal, Urban Development Secretary Rabindra Man Shrestha, Chief Executive Office of the Investment Board Nepal, Sushil Bhatta, Chief Administrative Office of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Basanta Adhikari and Chief Administrative Office of Lalitpuir Metropolitan City Birendra Dev Bharati were present in the meeting.
