The main opposition CPN (UML) has said that northern neighbor China has started casting doubts about its relation with Nepal.

Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said (that) China has been suspicious of Nepal, of late, while giving statements on behalf of UML during an all-party meeting at Singha Durbar on Sunday.

“Recently, there has been a crisis of trust in Nepal-China relations. There is a suspicion in the minds of Chinese friends that Nepal has deviated from the path of balanced neighborhood relations,” he said.

Gyawali suggested that Prime Minister should dispel the growing mistrust between the two countries during his China visit in the last week of September.

"I urged the Prime Minister to maintain that Nepal is in favor of a non-aligned foreign policy", Gyawali said, “The focus should be on the implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level visit between Nepal and China."
