CPN (United Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has commented that Nepal remained free from becoming a slave of foreigners after we passed the MCC with an explanatory declaration.

Addressing a program organized by Newa: Sangh in Kathmandu on Monday, Nepal claimed that if the MCC were passed without the explanatory announcement, Nepal's position would have been weaker.

"Had the MCC been passed as it is without an explanatory announcement, Nepal's position would have been weaker,” he said, “We protected the dignity of our country with explanatory comments on the MCC at the initiative of our party.”

He further said that the Nepal Workers and Peasants Party and Mohan Bikram Singh's party would get more than 100 seats in the general elections if they were applauded for strongly opposing the MCC.

He also claimed that the non-aligned foreign policy was defended by endorsing the MCC.
