One killed as workers clash with each other in Rupandehi; 13 held

A person has died and three others sustained injuries in a clash between workers in Rupandehi district on Monday night.

The police have arrested 13 people for their alleged involvement in the incident. The police said (that) they are investigating the case after taking them into custody. 

The incident took place at a restaurant located at Tilottama Municipality 9 on Monday evening when the workers clashed with each other after having a feast with alcohol.

During the clash, Suresh Syangtan of Hetauda of Makwanpur, currently staying at Mangalapur in Rupandehi, died when he was attacked with a sharp weapon, SP Bharat BK, chief of district police office, Rupandehi, said.

"One person died when they attacked each other with sharp weapons after consuming alcohol," SP BK told Nepalkhabar.

According to DSP Dan Bahadur Thapa of Area Police Office, Butwal, they were working with different contractors in Tilottama Municipality 9 and had a feast with alcohol in the evening after Bishwakarma Puja. The incident took place when they clashed with each other.

Thapa said that Syangtan, who was seriously injured in the clash, died while being rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Bikas Waiwa of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-1, Raju Tamang of Makwanpur and Hasta Singh Tamang of Makwanpur sustained injuries in the clash.

DSP Thapa informed that the injured are undergoing treatment at Bhairahawa Medical College.

The body of the deceased Syangtan has been kept in Bhairahawa Medical College.
