PM Dahal and Chinese President Xi to meet twice in Hangzhou

China visit to last for a week

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Chinese President Xi Jinping will meet twice during his upcoming visit to China.

Prime Minister Prachanda will directly fly to China from New York, America, on September 22. He will participate in the opening ceremony of the 19th edition of the Asian Games to be held in the Chinese City of Hangzhou on September 23. 

Currently, Prime Minister Prachanda is in New York in the course of attending the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations.

According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, Prime Minister Prachanda's meeting with Chinese President Xi will be held twice in Hangzhou itself.

After meeting Xi in Hangzhou, Prachanda will leave for Beijing, the capital of China. In Beijing, he is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, Zhao Leji. He will also address the China-Nepal Investment Summit jointly organized by CCPIT and FNCCI and Nepali Embassy in Beijing. 

Prime Minister Prachanda's China visit will last for a week, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the ministry, apart from Beijing, Prachanda will also visit Chongqing City and Lhasa in Tibet. He will observe the development and progress of Chongqing Metropolis in the fields of agriculture and industry.

He will arrive in Kathmandu from Lhasa on September 30.

Those accompanying the Prime Minister to his China visit will include daughter Ganga Dahal, Foreign Minister NP Saud, Water Supply Minister Mahindra Raya Yadav, Physical Infrastructure Minister Prakash Jwala, National Security Advisor Shanker Das Bairagi, and National Planning Commission Vice Chairman Min Bahadur Shrestha.

Nepal and China enjoy an excellent state of bilateral relations as good friends, close neighbors and trusted partners. The pedestal of this strong relationship has been nurtured by many commonalities in culture, history, and geography. This visit will bolster our age-old bilateral relations and expand the areas of cooperation in various fields of mutual interest, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

Prime Minister Prachanda is visiting China at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Qiang.
