NRB issues silver Medallion coins

The Mint Division under the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has introduced silver Medallion coins featuring the image of a 'cow'.

NRB governor Maha Prasad Adhikari released the coins amidst a program at the Division Office in Babarmahal today (Sunday). 

The Medallion coins are available in two different weights: 10 grams and 25 grams. The rate of the 10-gm coin is Rs 1,600 and it is Rs 4,000 per coin of 25 grams.

 According to the Division, the Medallion coins were minted from bank's silver stock with a purity of 999. These coins do not feature a specified face value and such coin is called the Medallion.

The NRB Board of Directors on June 2 decided to mint the coins and bring them into circulation.
