Experts have estimated that an epidemic seven times more dangerous than the Coronavirus, is likely to break out in the future.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has named the potential epidemic as Disease X.

Kate Bingham, the head of Britain's vaccine taskforce, has warned that this epidemic could kill 50 million people around the globe.

According to a Daily Mail report, experts have said that this epidemic could be seven times more dangerous than Covid-19 and spread quickly.

British scientists have begun to develop a vaccine against Disease X well before its breakout.

They have studied 25 types of viruses, with a special focus on those found in animals. These viruses can be transmitted from animals to humans, the news report said.

What is Disease X?
Disease X represents a hypothetical, currently unknown pathogen. It is a placeholder name adopted by the World Health Organization in 2018.

It represents the knowledge that a serious international epidemic could be caused by a pathogen currently unknown to cause human disease, according to a Daily Mail report.

Following the Porton Down announcement, Professor Dame Jenny Harries, the head of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), said, "We have already started developing vaccines and therapeutics to crack it."
