Alice P. Albright, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), the US foreign aid agency, is coming to Nepal.
She is arrive on a 5-day visit to Nepal on October 1, exactly one month after the official commencement of the US aid agency.
The MCC delegation led by Albright is scheduled to land at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu via Qatar in the afternoon of October 1. The delegation will return to America via Qatar on October 5.
During her stay in Nepal, Albright is scheduled to take stock of the progress and problems of the MCC and also conduct some field observations of the project.
"The American team will meet with Nepali officials including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Energy Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet, and Foreign Minister NP Saud and discuss the problems encountered in the implementation of the MCC," an official of MCA Nepal told Nepalkhabar.
In addition to the government officials, the MCC team will meet with the leaders of major political parties on the implementation of the MCC
MCA Nepal will host a dinner reception in honor of Albright on October 4.
Following Albright's visit, some technical and other problems seen in the implementation of MCC in Nepal are expected to be resolved.
During the implementation of the MCC, Vice President Cameron S. Alford made a three-day visit to Nepal to.
Head of the Department of Compact Operations of MCC, Alford on August 29 had come to Kathmandu via Qatar to participate in the official program of MCC implementation at the Ministry of Finance on August 30.
After Cameron's visit, Senator Chris Van Hollen, a member of the US Senate Foreign Affairs and Appropriations Committee, also came to Nepal on September 1.
Similarly, before the implementation of the MCC project, US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu visited Nepal on July 14.
