President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the President cannot deny the issue brought by the government after completing all the procedures.
President Paudel said this during a meeting with the delegation led by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, who came to draw the President’s attention about the release of the remaining jailbirds.
"As far as the remaining imprisonment of 670 people is concerned, it is a constitutional arrangement that I have to accept after all the processes are completed and the Council of Ministers takes a decision," said Paudel.
Paudel also reminded that the letter sent by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the amnesty of 34 people was returned over qualms where the constitution allows the president to exercise discretion, said Khila Karki, the press coordinator of the President.
