The scheduled visit of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to Nepal has been postponed.

Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sewa Lamsal, informed Nepalkhabar that the visit of Guterres, who was scheduled to come to Nepal on October 13, has been adjourned.

"His (Antonio Guterres) visit has been postponed for the time being," she told Nepalkhabar. His visit has been postponed due to the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine.”

Lamsal said that Secretary General Guterres’ visit to Nepal has been postponed due to the ongoing war between the Palestinian militant group Hamas and Israel since last Saturday.

During his four-day visit to Nepal (October 13 to 16), he was also scheduled to address the Federal Parliament and visit Lumbini and Pokhara.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' had invited Secretary General Guterres to visit Nepal when he went to New York to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Apart from the first and second Secretary Generals Trygve Lie and Dag Hammarskjold respectively, six former UN Secretary Generals have visited Nepal.
