CPN (UML) is holding its Madhes Province Convention in Janakpur from today.
The opening ceremony of the convention, which will last until tomorrow, is being held from today. UML is preparing to conclude the convention by electing a new working committee tomorrow.
Province Chairman of the party Ramawatar Yadav informed that all the preparations for the convention have been completed.
A total of 1,027 representatives have been selected for the UML Madhes Province Convention.
Yadav said that preparations including venue management, and accommodation for guests have been over.
The convention will elect a new 210-member provincial committee of UML. Five leaders are vying for the post of chairman of the UML's Madhesh Province Committee.
Madhes Province consists of 8 districts. UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, who is also the in-charge of Madhes Province, is insisting on electing a unanimous leadership in Madhes Province.
Suman Pyakurel of Saptari and Purushottam Paudel of Bara are being discussed as the chairman of UML Madhesh. Raj Kishor Yadav of Dhanusha and Rewati Pant of Sarlahi are in favor of electing new leaders in the province.
Yadav has served as chairman of Dhanusha district committee two times. UML leader Bichari Yadav has also been claiming for leadership.
A UML leader has informed that Bhattarai, who is in charge, is also trying to get a unanimous vote in favor of one among Bichari or Raj Kishor.
However, it seems, as things stand, less likely that UML will unanimously elect the leadership in Madhes Province.
