Three ministers have received invitations to participate in the third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) to be held next week in Beijing, the capital of China.

According to the Foreign Ministry, Deputy Prime Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who is also the Home Minister, Energy Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet and Physical Infrastructure Minister Prakash Jwala have been invited by the Chinese government.

The third BRF will be held in Beijing on October 17-18.

However, the government has not been able to decide who will lead the Nepali delegation in the forum even by Wednesday evening.

For the third BRI Forum, China wanted participation of the head of the government. However, since Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ visited China last month to participate in the opening ceremony of the Asian Games, he will not attend it.

China, which invited then President Bidya Devi Bhandari to the second BRI Forum in 2019, has not invited President Ram Chandra Paudel this time.

Although Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha and Ministers Basnet and Jwala have been invited, the Council of Ministers has to officially decide who will participate in the forum. However, even after a week has elapsed by, the government has not decided on the minister to attend the forum.

According to sources, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha and Minister Jwala are most likely to participate in the BRF.
