Provincial lawmaker of Nepali Congress Kedar Karki has staked a claim for the post of Chief Minister in Koshi Province.
Karki has submitted his claim with the signatures of 47 lawmakers to Province Chief Parshuram Khapung, sources have said.
According to Karki, he has submitted his claim with 39 lawmakers from CPN (UML) and eight lawmakers from Nepali Congress have submitted the claim.
Karki is close to Shekhar Koirala camp.
In Koshi, there are 10 lawmakers from the Koirala faction, of which three have not signed in favor of Karki.
A meeting of the ruling coalition held in Kathmandu on Thursday decided to field Indra Angbo, the leader of the Koshi Province Parliamentary Party of the Maoist Center, as the Chief Minister.
However, Karki, who was dissatisfied with the decision and took the support of UML and staked claim for the post of Chief Minister.
