Nepali Congress leader Kedar Karki has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province.
Province Chief Parshuram Khapung appointed Karki as the Chief Minister following the verification of 47 provincial lawmakers on Saturday.
"Karki was appointed as the Chief Minister following the verification of the lawmakers who lent support to him," said Narendra Shrestha, personal secretary of Khapung.
Earlier, CPN (Maoist Center) leader Indra Bahadur Angbo on behalf of the alliance also submitted the signatures of 47 MPs including eight members loyal to Shekhar camp of Nepali Congress.
However, he fell into minority after the NC eight lawmakers signed in favor of Karki.
Karki will take oath of office at 3 pm on Sunday, said Shrestha.
