Nepali Congress leader Kedar Karki, who was appointed as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province in line with Article 168 (5) of the Constitutio, has taken oath of office and secrecy.
Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung administered the oath to Karki in a ceremony organized on Sunday afternoon.
Karki was appointed as the Chief Minister by Provincial Chief Khapung after he staked claim for the post with the support of 39 lawmakers of CPN (UML) and eight lawmakers loyal to Shekhar Koirala camp of Nepali Congress on Saturday.
Indra Angbo, the leader of the parliamentary party of the CPN (Maoist Center), also claimed for the Chief Minister on behalf of the ruling coalition for the Chief Minister.
However, Angbo fell into minority after eight lawmakers, whom he had included in his claim, identified themselves in support of Karki.
