The newly appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, has formed a three-member cabinet. Karki appointed one minister each from Nepali Congress and CPN (UML) on Sunday.

Karki, who was appointed Chief Minister on Saturday, took oath of office and secrecy before the Province Chief, Parshuram Khapung amidst a ceremony today.

Ram Rana from UML and Shamsher Rai from Nepali Congress were sworn in as ministers.  The ministerial portfolios of Rai and Rana have not been specified.

Karki has been appointed as the Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168 (5) of the Constitution.
He was appointed as the Chief Minister by Provincial Chief Khapung after he staked his claim for the post with the support of 39 lawmakers of CPN (UML) and eight lawmakers loyal to Shekhar Koirala camp of Nepali Congress on Saturday.

Indra Angbo, the leader of the parliamentary party of the CPN (Maoist Center), also claimed for the Chief Minister on behalf of the ruling coalition.

However, Angbo fell into minority after eight lawmakers, whom he had included in his claim, identified themselves in support of Karki.
