The newly appointed Chief Minister of Koshi Province, Kedar Karki, is taking the vote of confidence today (Wednesday).
Chief Minister Karki will take the trust vote in the provincial assembly meeting at 11 am.
Congress leader Karki, who became the Chief Minister last Saturday with the support of 39 MPs of CPN (UML) and eight from his own party, is going to take the vote of confidence within 5 days of his appointment.
Not only the UML in the Koshi Province government but also the parties in the central ruling alliance have announced that they will give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Karki.
But UML says that if Maoist Center and other coalition parties are brought into the Koshi government, it will quit.
At least 47 votes are required for a majority in the 93-member province assembly.
As mentioned, if all parties of the UML and the central ruling coalition give a vote of confidence, Chief Minister Karki will secure a majority.
There are 39 MPs from UML, 29 from Congress, 13 from Maoist Center, four from Unified Socialist and one from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP). Apart from the UML, all other parties belong to the central government coalition.
Indra Angbo, the leader of Maoist Center Provincial Parliamentary Party, has claimed that all parties in the alliance have agreed to give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Karki.
RPP, which has six seats, has already decided to remain neutral.
