Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha, who is currently visiting China, suffered a cardiac arrest.
According to the information provided by the Nepali Embassy in Beijing, Shrestha suffered a heart attack at midnight on Wednesday.
After Shrestha complained of chest pain, he was admitted to the Peking Union Medical College Hospital in Beijing at night. The doctor involved in the treatment said that Shrestha had a coronary artery blockage.
Shrestha's secretariat informed that his condition is now stable after an angioplasty of his heart was done immediately at night. The doctor involved in the treatment said that he should be kept under observation in the hospital for 24 hours.
He is being treated in the ICU. According to the doctor, Shrestha is out of danger.
Prime Minister Prachanda's press coordinator Gobinda Acharya said that Home Minister Shrestha had a mild heart attack.
Three days ago, Shrestha had reached China to participate in the BRI conference. Tomorrow (Friday) Shrestha is scheduled to return to Nepal tomorrow (Friday).
