Chairman of the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda has claimed that the five-party ruling coalition will get a comfortable majority in upcoming parliament.

Talking to media after casting votes in Chitwan on Sunday morning, the Maoist supremo said that the ruling alliance will emerge victorious in federal parliament and provincial assembly elections.

"I believe, the ruling alliance will get a comfortable majority," he said.

Responding to a media query, Prachanda said that a new prime minister will be picked based on a consensus among the members of the existing ruling alliance.

"I believe that there won't be any issue to pick a new prime minister and the ruling alliance will not break just because of this issue. We will discuss the matter once election results are made public," he said.

Prachanda, however, said that there are many claimants including Gagan Thapa and Sher Bahadur Deuba for the post of prime minister.

He was of the view that the ongoing elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly help to institutionalize the Constitution. "I believe that ongoing elections will usher the country towards a new path of economic development and prosperity," Prachanda added.
