International observers are visiting various polling centers in Kathmandu as voting to elect members of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly is underway.
Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, Bhutan's Sonam Topgay, Chief Election Commissioner of Bangladesh Kazi Habibul Awal, Maldives's Chief Election Commissioner Fuwad Thowfeek, Japan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs TAKEI Shunsuke and South Korea's election commissioner are visiting polling stations. A team of Russian experts are also observing the elections.

Voting is presently underway across Nepal to elect new members of federal parliament and provincial assemblies. The voting began at 7 am today morning.
Altogether 5,636 candidates are contesting the elections to the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) category, with 5,907 seats set aside for proportional representation (PR) category in the final closed list.
