United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres has arrived in Pokhara on Monday afternoon.
Secretary General Guterres, who is on a four-day official trip to Nepal, arrived in Pokhara on a special flight of the Nepali Army plane.
The plane carrying Guterres landed at Pokhara's old airport.
He was welcomed by Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey, Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City Dhan Raj Acharya, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment of Gandaki Province Dipendra Bahadur Thapa, Chief Secretary of Gandaki Province Lakshmi Kumari Basnet, Chief District Officer of Kaski Basudev Ghimire among other others.
Guterres was received with a warm welcome by Pokhara people on the airport premises amidst the display of cultural dances.
Secretary-General Guterres, then, drove directly from the airport to Fishtail Hotel in Lakeside. He will stay in Pokhara today and will go to the Annapurna Base Camp on Tuesday morning by a Nepali Army helicopter.
