Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that major political parties have reached an agreement on transitional justice.
Prachanda said this to the mediapersons while attending the greetings exchange and tea reception hosted by CPN (UML) at its central party in Chyasal today.
"An understanding has been reached on transitional justice during a meeting with Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chair KP Oli this morning," said Prachanda, "this issue will be sorted out soon," he said.
A Bill Prepared for the Amendment of the Investigation of Enforced Disappeared Persons, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2014 has not been submitted to the Parliament due to the lack of agreement between the parties on some provisions.
“We have been reiterating said that the law should be victim-centered. The same is in the bill," Prime Minister Prachanda added, "I have always taken the initiative to bring the parties together. The meeting held this morning ended on a positive note. The greetings exchange programs hosted by Nepali Congress on Kojagrat Purnima and the one by UML today have created a good environment to build consensus among the parties.”
Prachanda's latest statement has come at a time when the main opposition UML is taking a stance that an agreement should be reached on four issues before submitting the TRC amendment bill to Parliament.
