FM Saud and MCC Chief Albright hold talks in Washington

Dwell on timely implementation of MCC projects

Foreign Minister NP Saud, who is on an official visit to the United States of America, held a meeting with CEO of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Alice P. Albright in Washington DC on Thursday.

Posting a Twitter message, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said (that) the meeting between the two leaders focused on the timely implementation of the projects under the MCC compact and it ended on a positive note.

"Their conversation focused on the timely implementation of projects under the MCC. It was emphasized that the projects will be completed within the defined timeframe of five years," the Foreign Ministry tweeted.

Aside from Minister Saud and MCC Chief Albright, Ambassador of Nepal to the US, Sreedhar Khatri, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ganesh Kumar Dhakal, Deputy Vice President for Europe Asia Pacific and Latin America of MCC, Jonathan Brooks, the US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean R. Thompson, and other embassy officials were present in the meeting.

Saud, who has been on a one-week official visit to America since Sunday, held a meeting with the US business community on Wednesday. In the meeting, he urged the US investors to invest in Nepal, citing that Nepal offers better investment opportunities.

Likewise, Minister Saud also had a meeting with Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Samantha Power on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed the matters related to the USAID's ongoing programs aligning the development priorities of Nepal and their effectiveness during the meeting.

Similarly, he met with US Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken on Monday and discussed issues related to bilateral interests, economic ties, and investment. In the meeting held at the US Department of Secretary of State, Blinken said that Nepal is an important partner of the US in the Indo-Pacific.

Foreign Minister Saud, who left for an official visit to America last Sunday, will return home on November 5.
