NC's Tek Bahadur Gurung elected from Manang

Nepali Congress leader Tek Bahadur Gurung.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Tek Bahadur Gurung has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Manang district.

According to Uttam Silwal, the chief returning officer, Tek Bahadur garnered 2,575 votes to win the elections while his rival of CPN-UML Polden Chhopang Gurung got 2,247 votes.

Out of the total 6,779 voters, the voter-turnout stood at 4,845 in Manang. Gurung, who took an NC membership from BP Koirala in 2036, had been elected as a member of the Second Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS.

Tek Bahadur had lost the elections to UML's Polden Gurung in 2074 BS. He had become the Minister of State for Labor and Employment in the Sushil Koirala-led government.

Similarly, Munindra Jang Gurung has been elected as a member of the Province Assembly (A). Munindra got 1,255 votes against 925 votes obtained by Rajan Gurung of UML.

Independent candidate Rajiv Gurung alias Deepak Manange was elected as a member of Province Assembly (B).
