With its lethal bawling, Nepal achieved its first victory by defeating Japan by 67 runs in the four-nation women's T20I series held in Hong Kong on Saturday.
Japan was bowled out for 46 runs in the allotted 20 overs while chasing the target of 114 runs given by Nepal.
Meg Ogawa scored 17 runs for Japan. Seika Sumi contributed 13 runs. No other batters could score double-digit runs.
Asmina Karmacharya took the highest four wickets to keep Japan at a low score. She bowled lethally, conceding only 10 runs in her spell. Similarly, Sangita Rai took three wickets, spending five runs in three overs. Puja Mahato claimed two wickets to her name. She conceded only 2 runs in 3 overs including 1 maiden.
Earlier, invited to bat first after losing the toss at the Wong Nai Cricket Ground, Nepal made a total of 113 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Rubina Chhetry was bowled out for 38 runs. Rubina, who scored the highest runs for Nepal, was bowled out after hitting five fours in 32 balls.
Opener Puja Mahato was caught LBW after scoring 13 runs. Sita Rana Magar was bowled out for 9 runs.
Similarly, Captain Indu Barma was caught out for 27 runs. Barma hit two fours off 31 deliveries. Kajal Shrestha remained not out for 15 and Asmina Karmacharya for 1 run. Kajal hit 3 fours in 7 balls.
Nepal and Japan will now play again on Sunday for the third place.
After defeating Japan in the last match of the group stage, Nepal finished third with 2 points. Japan is without points after losing three matches.
