A joint meeting of central committee and parliamentary committee of Rastriya Swatatra Party (RSP) has dwelled on the appointment of Dr Swarnim Wagle as the vice president of the party.

The chairpersons of Central Discipline Commission, Central Accountancy Commission and provinces are also participating in the meeting that started in Jaleshwar (Mahottari) from Monday.

The meeting dwelled on political, organizational, financial and disciplinarian reports, sources have said.

The meeting has also decided to expand party’s committees in Madesh Province. Similarly, the meeting will take important decisions including organizational structure and sharing of responsibilities, the leaders have said.

Discussions are underway to assign Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Swarnim Wagle with the responsibilities of Vice President of the party. Wagle who defected to RSP from Nepali Congress and was elected to the House of Representatives from Tanahu-1 through the by-elections held in April, has not been given any responsibilities.

"There have been discussions whether to give the responsibility of the Vice President to Wagle now or wait until the next convention," a central member who participated in the meeting told Nepalkhabar.

The leader further said if Wagle is willing to take up the responsibility through this meeting, he might become Vice President, if not he will have to wait until the next general convention.

In the 40-member RSP led by Rabi Lamichhane, Dol Prasad Aryal is Vice President, Dr Mukul Dhakal (General Secretary/spokesperson), Kabindra Burlakoti and Basumaya Tamang (Deputy General Secretaries).

Lamichhane had on June 21, 2022 announced RSP amidst a program in Kathmandu. The party was registered after 10 days (on July 1). The RSP is the fourth largest party in the parliament.
